1 Examine how attitudes towards linguistic standards empower and oppress language users. Understanding how different languages and dialects are treated socially compared to standardized English. 5 The readings from both Tan and Marshalls helped highlight how people who speak a different dialect are treated negatively.
2 Explore and analyze, in writing and reading, a variety of genres and rhetorical situations. Learning to write and read multimodal forms of media and literacy for multiple forms of audiences  4 Working on Translations 1 and 2 assisted me in developing skills to create and transform my media into different pieces whether it’s a stand up presentation or a visual image.
3 Develop strategies for reading, drafting, collaborating, revising, and editing. Evaluating my work and being able to revise and improve on it.  4 Making multiple drafts of the synthesis essay helped me find flaws and create improvements.
4 Recognize and practice key rhetorical terms and strategies when engaged in writing situations. Recognizing and using description, symbolism, and specificity in your writing. 2 Being able to use dialogue and narratives in my LLN to create my writing. 
5 Understand and use print and digital technologies to address a range of audiences. Using different forms of media to help deliver your idea to different audiences. 4 On the synthesis essay we needed multiple forms of sources whether it’s images or a short form video. Furthermore, I also used images on the translation 2 assignment to show different forms of media.
6 Locate research sources (including academic journal articles, magazine and newspaper articles) in the library’s databases or archives and on the Internet and evaluate them for credibility, accuracy, timeliness, and bias. Effectively finding sources using the schools database and the internet, while being able to evaluate the sources on its reliability. 4 There was an assignment for which we had to find sources from different forms of search engines.
7 Compose texts that integrate a stance with appropriate sources, using strategies such as summary, analysis, synthesis, and argumentation. Writing an argument with proper sources to support it and using writing strategies such as summary, analysis, and synthesis. 4 In the synthesis essay, we had to create a thesis and an argument on our specific viewpoint on the matter of language
8 Practice systematic application of citation conventions. Accurately citing following the standard protocol. 3 In the synthesis essay, we had to use proper citation techniques, and we had to cite texts and other forms of multimedia.
